QR & Barcode Scanner is a free app for scanning QR codes and barcodes and for creating QR codes for links, text, Wi-Fi, contacts and more. It also keeps an on-device history of what you scan and create. This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles user information.
QR & Barcode Scanner does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information.
The app does not require an account or login. All of your preferences and data stay on your device and are never sent to us.

With your permission, the camera is used only to detect QR codes and barcodes in the live viewfinder. Frames are analysed on your device in real time. The camera feed is never recorded, saved as a photo, or transmitted anywhere. If you deny camera access you can still create QR codes and scan from an existing image.
If you use "scan from image", the picture you select is read on your device to look for a code. It is not uploaded, copied, or kept by the app after decoding.
When you scan a code or create a QR code, the app saves an entry in a database on your device only. Each entry may include the decoded or encoded content, a short title, the code type and format, and the date and time. Your settings (such as selected options, feedback preferences, and the auto-open setting) are also stored locally.
This data is never uploaded, backed up, or transmitted to us or to any server. You can open or delete individual entries, clear all history, or export it from the app. Uninstalling the app or clearing the app's storage removes this data. Because it never leaves your device, we cannot see it, back it up, or delete it for you.
Exporting history creates a JSON or CSV file that you then send or save wherever you choose, using your device's native share sheet. Once the file leaves the app, it is handled by the destination you picked, under that service's terms. Importing reads a file you select and adds its entries to your local history.
The app has no ads and makes no background network calls with your content. Scanning and QR creation work fully offline. The only time a connection is made is when you choose to act on a scanned code — for example tapping a link, email address, or phone number — which hands off to your browser, mail, or phone app.
QR & Barcode Scanner does not share any user information with third parties. If you use the app's "Share" feature to share a QR image or scan result, the image or text is sent directly to the app you pick (such as WhatsApp, email, or messaging) using your device's native share sheet, and is not routed through us.
QR & Barcode Scanner does not display advertisements and does not use an advertising ID.
This application does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. Code detection uses Google's on-device machine-learning libraries (ML Kit), which are bundled with the app; image analysis for scanning runs entirely on your device and image data is not sent to Google for this purpose. ML Kit is provided by Google LLC and is governed by Google's own privacy policy.

No other sensitive device permissions, such as location, contacts, microphone, or SMS, are requested or used.
QR & Barcode Scanner does not use cookies.
QR & Barcode Scanner is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Since no personal information is collected or transmitted, there is no user data stored on our servers. Your history and preferences remain under your control on your own device at all times, protected by your operating system's app sandboxing.
